Why Choose Golden Celebration Rose?

Golden Celebration Rose is a timeless multi-functional David Austin classic famous for its dazzling solid golden yellow flowers. Each large 10–12cm bloom holds 55 to 75 inward-curving layered petals, forming a full, luxurious cup shape with outstanding visual fullness. Its fragrance has a unique layered transformation: young blooms release clean fresh tea and fruity notes, while fully mature flowers emit thick sweet strawberry and white grape wine scent that spreads far around the garden.

This versatile variety can be cultivated as cut flower shrub or trained as climbing rose on trellises, reaching a standard height of 120cm. It delivers excellent cold hardiness and reliable disease resistance, but performs poorly under sustained high heat. It blooms most vigorously in spring and autumn; in mild southern climates it can flower all year long. Mature plants yield hundreds of blooms per growing season, creating a magnificent sea of golden flowers for landscape viewing and high-end floral arrangements.

Garden Performance

  • Three-in-one multi-purpose rose: works as cut flower shrub, landscape bush and trellis climber.
  • Striking solid bright golden yellow large blooms with 55–75 inward curved layered petals.
  • Unique evolving fragrance: fresh tea-fruit for new blooms, rich strawberry wine aroma when fully open.
  • Strong cold resistance and good overall disease resistance, not suitable for extreme high-temperature areas.
  • Peak blooming in spring and autumn, continuous year-round flowering in warm southern zones.
  • Massive flowering capacity; mature bushes produce hundreds of blooms per season for spectacular viewing.
  • Vigorous branching growth paired with sturdy root system for fast establishment after planting.
Best For: Rose lovers in cold & temperate regions seeking multi-use golden Austin roses with layered fruit-wine fragrance and abundant seasonal blooms, with ability to provide partial shade during hot summer days.

Basic Care Tips

Plant Golden Celebration Rose in full sun with loose, well-drained soil, supplying a minimum of 6 hours direct sunlight daily. Provide slight shading during extreme hot weather to relieve heat stress. Water deeply after topsoil dries, keep good air circulation among branches to reduce fungal diseases, and perform annual pruning to encourage dense branching and massive repeat flowering.

Rose Planting and Care Guide

Light

Roses thrive in sunlight. During the growing season, they need at least 6 hours of direct light each day. Without sufficient light, they may not bloom — or the blooms may not fully develop.

Temperature

Roses prefer a cool to warm climate, with an optimal temperature range of 18–28°C. When temperatures exceed 33°C, growth may slow. If exposed to intense sun and high heat, provide some shade during midday.

Soil

Use loose, well-aerated, nutrient-rich soil with good drainage. A recommended mix: 40% peat moss, 20% coconut coir, and 40% garden soil.

Water & Fertilizer

Water regularly, but be careful not to overwater. When planting, use organic sheep manure as a base fertilizer. For weekly feeding, a diluted water-soluble fertilizer works well throughout all stages of growth.

Pruning

Prune regularly based on growth needs. Remove diseased branches, deadwood, thin stems, overly dense growth, spent blooms, and excessively long branches by cutting them back. When removing old branches, cut them off at the base.
