Why Choose Iroha Rose?

Iroha Rose is a rare bud-mutation shrub rose originating from Japanese parent variety Yuzhen, carrying one-of-a-kind ornamental characteristics that set it apart from ordinary pink roses. Its most iconic trait is the exclusive matte non-glossy petal finish paired with soft wavy edges, creating a muted, low-saturation artistic texture hard to find in other varieties. The layered gradient color transitions from rich deep pink on outer petals to gentle pale pink at the core, forming a soft, flowing airy bloom shape with looser petal arrangement compared to its parent.

This upright shrub matures at 120cm tall; though its growth pace is relatively slow, it boasts outstanding heat tolerance, maintaining intact flower form and steady blooming throughout hot summer periods. It is completely fragrance-free, making it an ideal choice for scent-sensitive households, indoor vase displays and quiet minimalist garden scenes. As a unique mutant collector’s rose with distinctive matte texture and gentle gradient pink tones, it brings subtle understated natural charm for rose enthusiasts pursuing rare botanical varieties.

Garden Performance

  • Upright shrub reaching 120cm tall, suitable for garden beds, border landscaping and cut flower harvesting.
  • Rare matte textured petals with natural wavy edges, loose airy bloom structure lighter than parent Yuzhen.
  • Elegant two-tone gradient: deep pink outer layers fade softly to pale light pink at bloom center.
  • 100% fragrance-free, perfectly compatible with allergy sufferers and indoor scent-free environments.
  • Excellent heat resistance; blooms keep neat shape without wilting under sustained high summer temperatures.
  • Moderate vase life, retains delicate matte texture and gradient color well after cutting.
  • Relatively slow growth habit, requires patience for full bush formation.
  • Robust root system ensures stable healthy growth once established after planting.
Best For: Rose collectors, minimalist gardeners and scent-sensitive florists searching for rare matte-gradient Japanese shrub roses with strong heat tolerance and zero fragrance.

Basic Care Tips

Plant Iroha Rose in full sun with loose, well-drained soil, supplying at least 6 hours direct sunlight daily to fully develop its matte petal texture and gradient color. Water thoroughly once topsoil dries out, maintain proper air circulation around foliage to reduce disease risks. Due to slow growth, avoid heavy over-pruning; only trim dead branches and spent blooms lightly to encourage slow steady new growth and continuous flowering.

Rose Planting and Care Guide

Light

Roses thrive in sunlight. During the growing season, they need at least 6 hours of direct light each day. Without sufficient light, they may not bloom — or the blooms may not fully develop.

Temperature

Roses prefer a cool to warm climate, with an optimal temperature range of 18–28°C. When temperatures exceed 33°C, growth may slow. If exposed to intense sun and high heat, provide some shade during midday.

Soil

Use loose, well-aerated, nutrient-rich soil with good drainage. A recommended mix: 40% peat moss, 20% coconut coir, and 40% garden soil.

Water & Fertilizer

Water regularly, but be careful not to overwater. When planting, use organic sheep manure as a base fertilizer. For weekly feeding, a diluted water-soluble fertilizer works well throughout all stages of growth.

Pruning

Prune regularly based on growth needs. Remove diseased branches, deadwood, thin stems, overly dense growth, spent blooms, and excessively long branches by cutting them back. When removing old branches, cut them off at the base.
